I worked as a hedge fund receptionist for two days this week, and all I can say about that is:
This opinion is surely subject to change, but for now: temping is awesome. Absolutely slaps. Blissful to be able to say “today is my first day and tomorrow is my last.”
Perceived some tube quirks for the first time in a while. Normally I am a Bus Girlie but this week’s Unexpected Journey mandated I take the underground for my brief stint as a Corporate Woman, and…
Something that’s so silly about London is yes it is a very modern city but it is also a very old city, so sometimes you’ll be on public transit and see a bit of architecture that is clearly from The Past, and you will laugh.
Like…what is a door to an Edwardian wardrobe1 doing at the Tufnell Park Station lift.
I was very sure the below advert was targeted toward actual bulldogs but then I saw this product in the Men’s aisle of Boots and now I am…still not convinced.
An update on the Regent’s Park ROSES!

Winter be damned! These roses are going to bloom regardless of the outdoor temperature or overall societal vibes.
Roses are so important to me. Probably this symbolizes something but I am not pressed on delving into that.
Next week I am starting some part time work at a kickboxing gym so I will once again be greeting the day at 06:00 and it will? Be dark outside for some hours after that. Cool! Only twelve days until the winter solstice but who’s counting2.
The Waterstones novel of the year has been announced, fyi fyi fyi.
Possibly the only book I want to read again and again and again. If you are curious about Me and My Whole Deal3, read this novel.
Three things I saw in London this week:
Myself, confused yet vibing yet distressed at a hedge fund
Two Dalmatians who clearly live in my neighbourhood because they’ve walked past me thrice now and I LOVE them
A guy wearing a puffer jacket two tables away from me whilst I type this4. I feel very powerful when a man is colder than I am. A step in the right direction for women’s rights if you ask me!
Okay, gtg devote all my energy to this salad that is the size of my MacBook Air™, who charmingly crashed unexpectedly in the writing of this post.
xoxo,
Lianna “met a cockapoo called Finn and he was nicer to me than any of my stupid crushes have been” Holston
I KNOW The Chronicles of Narnia was set after Edwardian times please shut the hell your mouth. Plus, not for nothing but their wardrobe could very likely have been purchased between 1901-1919. Is this an argument anyone was trying to have with me? Perhaps not before and definitely not now!
Me. I am. Greatly anticipating 23/12/23 because the days will finally get LONGER
Horny, sad, knows a lot about World War I
Perhaps obvious but in case not: we are indoors
Brava Lianna! Hope ya Kick A at the Kick Boxing 🥊
I thought 'Potato Waffles' was the name of the Boxer in the advert.
